Account access, course use, certificates, support, and common questions that apply across MyDrivePermit products.
Learn and Permits, LLC operates MyDrivePermit.com. We provide state-specific online driver education and study products. Our current driver-education authorizations include California DMV License #E0183, Texas TDLR Online Only Driver Education Provider License #C3674, and Ohio Driver Training School License #4384 for Class D Online and Abbreviated Adult Online Training.

In most cases, yes. Course access is provided after the order is successfully processed and any required enrollment steps are completed. Some regulated courses may require an agreement, identity verification, or another required first step before instructional content unlocks.

Yes, MyDrivePermit courses are browser-based and work on modern devices. A laptop or desktop is often the easiest choice for longer sessions and final exams. Some regulated courses, especially Ohio courses, use stricter inactivity and session controls on mobile devices.
Yes. You can generally study on your own schedule, but self-paced does not mean unlimited training time. State-specific daily limits, required breaks, minimum course durations, identity checks, exam rules, and completion deadlines still apply where required.
Yes. Completed progress is saved so you can return later. For timed courses, only properly recorded active instructional time counts, so always log out when you are finished and avoid leaving a timed course open unattended.
Completion periods vary by state and course. Texas courses, Ohio Class D, Ohio Abbreviated Adult, and California products do not all use the same timeline. Check your course agreement, dashboard, and the state-specific FAQ section below for the deadline that applies to your enrollment.
No. MyDrivePermit focuses on online driver education and related study products. If your state or licensing path requires professional behind-the-wheel instruction or supervised driving practice, that portion must be completed separately with an eligible local provider or supervising driver.
Yes. Depending on the state and product, practice tests and study guides may be included with a course or available as an optional supplemental product. They are designed for review and test preparation and do not replace a required state-approved driver education course when one is required.
Certificate delivery depends on the state. California uses a physical completion certificate, Texas uses state-prescribed driver education certificate forms or certificate numbers, and Ohio online completion certificates are processed through the Ohio driver-training system. See the state-specific sections below for details.

Refund eligibility depends on the product, whether access has already been granted, how much of a digital course has been used, and any state-specific requirements. If you believe you purchased the wrong course, contact us as soon as possible and preferably before beginning the course.

California Online Driver Education FAQs

California applicants under age 18 must complete driver education before obtaining an instruction permit. The required driver education program consists of 30 hours of professional classroom, home-study, or approved internet instruction.
The California driver education course provides the required 30 hours of instruction. MyDrivePermit also applies its required course-timing controls, so the course cannot be rushed through in a single sitting.
After successful completion, MyDrivePermit processes the California driver education completion certificate. The student then follows California DMV steps for the instruction permit, knowledge testing, professional driver training, supervised practice, and later the driving test.
No. The official California driver education completion certificate is a physical certificate and is mailed to the student; a self-printed or downloadable copy does not replace the state-prescribed original. Keep your mailing information accurate before completing the course.
Standard certificate delivery is available, and optional expedited handling or tracked delivery may be offered depending on the product selected. Review the certificate or shipping option shown with your order for the service level you purchased.
For a California applicant under 18, the licensing path includes at least 6 hours of professional behind-the-wheel driver training, at least 50 hours of supervised practice including 10 hours at night, and holding the instruction permit for at least 6 months before the driving test.
California applicants age 18 or older are not required to complete teen driver education before applying for an instruction permit. Adults may still use study guides or practice-test products to prepare for the DMV knowledge test.

The Texas Teen Driver Education (TDE) course is designed for students under age 18. The 6-Hour Adult Driver Education (ADE) course is the common licensing course for many first-time Texas drivers ages 18 through 24.
MyDrivePermit’s Texas Teen Driver Education course includes 24 hours of online instruction. It is designed to support the learner-license stage and continued completion of the online classroom portion of the Texas teen licensing process.
MyDrivePermit supports the concurrent teen pathway. After completing the required first six hours and passing the applicable milestone assessment, an eligible student can receive the learner-license completion documentation needed for the next licensing step while continuing the remainder of the 24-hour online course.
Yes. The teen course includes required assessments during the course and a final examination at the end of the online instruction. Students should complete all required lessons, timing, and assessment requirements before expecting final completion documentation.
The 6-hour Adult Driver Education course is intended for adult applicants and is particularly relevant to first-time drivers ages 18 through 24 who must satisfy the Texas adult driver education requirement.
Texas driver education completion is documented using state-prescribed certificates. Teen Driver Education uses the applicable DEE-964 certificate information, while Adult Driver Education uses the ADE-1317. Follow the instructions in your dashboard after successful completion.
MyDrivePermit’s approved Texas courses include the applicable knowledge-exam component. When the required knowledge exam is successfully completed, the result is reflected in the course completion documentation for use in the Texas DPS licensing process.

No. MyDrivePermit is an online-only provider. Any behind-the-wheel instruction, supervised driving, parent-taught requirements, or other in-car components that apply to the student’s Texas licensing path are completed separately.

The Ohio Class D 24-Hour Online Driver Education course is for beginning drivers under age 21 who are completing the required online education portion of Ohio driver training. The Ohio Abbreviated Adult 4-Hour Online course is for eligible drivers age 21 or older who are required to complete abbreviated adult training after an unsuccessful driving or maneuverability test.
The course provides 24 hours of online Class D driver education with required lessons, activities, identity and participation controls, Personal Validation Questions, and a final examination. It fulfills the online education portion of Ohio Class D driver training; required in-car training and supervised driving are completed separately.
No. MyDrivePermit provides the online education portion only. The applicable Ohio beginning-driver pathway also includes 8 hours of professional behind-the-wheel instruction and 50 hours of supervised driving practice, including at least 10 hours at night.
MyDrivePermit automatically applies the age-based Class D training limits: students under 18 may complete up to 4 hours per calendar day, while students age 18 or older may complete up to 8 hours per day. The course also requires a 10-minute break after two consecutive hours of training.
The Class D online training agreement establishes a completion period of no more than 6 months from the applicable agreement-signature date. Complete the course well before the deadline displayed in your Ohio records or dashboard.
Ohio online driver training requires identity-authentication controls. For a student under age 18, the parent or legal guardian completes the initial identity verification as instructed; for a student age 18 or older, the student completes their own verification. After the required identity step is approved, the instructional course can unlock.
PVQs are identity and participation checks used during Ohio online training. In the Class D course they appear periodically, including approximately every two hours of instruction, and in connection with the final exam. The student must answer personally and has 60 seconds to respond.
If the first validation question is answered incorrectly, the student receives one additional validation question. If both are answered incorrectly, the applicable Ohio online course is locked for 24 hours / the required calendar-day lockout. Support cannot waive a required identity-validation lockout.
Ohio course sessions use strict inactivity controls for accurate timekeeping and security. MyDrivePermit is configured to expire an inactive session after approximately 15 minutes on a desktop or laptop and approximately 2 minutes on a mobile phone or tablet. For longer sessions and exams, a desktop or laptop is recommended when practical.
The Class D final examination contains 50 questions and requires at least 75% to pass. A student has a maximum of 3 total attempts, with at least a 24-hour wait after an unsuccessful attempt. The required Ohio TIPIC or driver-license information must be entered before the final exam can be taken.
The Abbreviated Adult course provides 4 hours of required online instruction for an eligible driver age 21 or older who must complete abbreviated adult training. The course includes identity verification, PVQs, required modules, and a final examination.
The applicable Abbreviated Adult training period is no more than 3 months. The online final contains 20 questions, requires at least 75% to pass, and allows up to 3 total attempts before the required instruction must be taken again.
The four-hour online course completes the online-instruction portion only. A student using the online-only path must also complete at least 24 hours of qualifying driving practice, at no more than 4 hours per day, with a valid licensed driver and submit the applicable Ohio affidavit. Ohio also recognizes an alternative path involving professional behind-the-wheel abbreviated-adult instruction through an appropriately licensed provider.
After successful completion of all required online instruction, identity checks, modules, and the final exam, MyDrivePermit processes the applicable Ohio online completion certificate. Ohio provides up to 5 business days for issuance after successful completion. Once available, the certificate will be made accessible through the student’s Ohio Dashboard.
Yes. The optional Ohio Permit Practice Tests & Study Guide is a supplemental refresher available for Ohio students. It can be useful for both Class D and Abbreviated Adult students who want additional review of signs, rules of the road, hazard awareness, and test-style questions; it does not issue a driver-training completion certificate.
